Chapter 547 - 548 Unify the World, Youngster [7/7]
Chapter 547 - 548 Unify the World, Youngster [7/7]
What?
Wu Tian’s words caused Lais’s expression to change drastically. He hadn’t expected that Wu Tian would insist on his death, no matter the cost. A war between their two nations, one that could ignite a third world war, and he simply didn’t care?
How can this be? He must realize that if my death indirectly causes a world war, he’ll be a villain condemned throughout history. Isn’t he afraid at all?
At this moment, Lais was scared out of his wits. He felt that Wu Tian wasn’t a normal person; his way of thinking was completely alien.
"Warships, turn back!" Lais commanded.
He couldn’t see Wu Tian anywhere; the voice simply originated from within his own mind. Certain psykers could accomplish such a feat, but to kill someone without even being seen... that was utterly terrifying.
The warships began to turn back. Lais let out a sigh of relief. But then, Wu Tian’s voice rang out in his mind again, "I am omnipresent. You want to leave? Where could you possibly go?"
The next moment, an agonizing pain wracked Lais’s body, but he couldn’t tell where it was coming from.
"No!" he screamed.
The soldiers rushed to his side. "General, what’s wrong?"
"Medic! Get a medic, now!"
A medic hurried over, but just as he reached Lais’s side—
BOOM!
Lais’s entire body exploded. One moment he was a perfectly intact person, the next he burst open like a watermelon. Crimson blood splattered onto the nearby soldiers and the medic.
Lais was dead. Just like that.
No one knew what had happened. The soldiers and the medic froze, their faces masks of pure terror.
How could this happen? How on earth could this happen?
All they could do was accelerate the warships and return home as quickly as possible. The bats followed the warships, never wanting to set foot on that solitary island again.
「Dragon Country, Yang City」
It was dinnertime. When Wu Tian came to the dining table, he found no bowl or chopsticks at his seat.
"What’s this...?" he asked.
Qin Yuhan maintained a cold expression. She had said she would give Wu Tian the silent treatment for a day, and she meant it. Today, she was ignoring him completely.
The little one giggled. "Dad, this is for your own good. You need to lose some weight."
"..."
Wu Tian felt the little guy had to be joking. Me? Lose weight? Look at me. I have the build of a weak scholar who couldn’t even truss a chicken.
Wu Tian looked to Murong Yezi, hoping his mother would come to his defense.
Murong Yezi coughed. "Our baby is right. Men need to watch their weight, too!"
Wu Tian replied, "Are you really going to spout such nonsense with a straight face?"
Whether he ate or not didn’t really matter to Wu Tian. With his current level of Cultivation, eating was merely a habit, not a necessity. Still, he was annoyed and needed to vent his frustration.
Wu Tian returned to the sofa, his Spiritual Sense spreading out to engulf the world. He saw the warships finally arriving at a port in the Iron Tower Country of Law. The vessels were incredibly fast. A large crowd had gathered at the port, as the Monarch of Law himself was present. He was there for the return of the mission to retrieve Giles, the most famous marshal in the history of the Country of Law, renowned for his role in the Hundred Years’ War. As a Monarch, he knew the importance of showing respect to the talented, so he had come in person. The other ministers from the Country of Law were also present, a demonstration of extraordinary importance.
The Chief Minister of the Iron Tower Country said, "Your Majesty, look. These are the forces of our Iron Tower Country, now heading toward us. Behold their mighty presence! They are invincible! Among all the nations, perhaps only our warships can claim to be the finest."
The Monarch of Law, pleased by the Chief Minister’s words, couldn’t help but smile. With the resurgence of Spiritual Energy, the nations maintained a superficial peace, but secretly, none of them thought that way. With access to ultra-modern technology, who wouldn’t want to unify the globe? History has never seen a person who unified the entire world. It’s time for such a figure to emerge.
As the Monarch of Law mulled this over, his heart surged with emotion. He felt an urge to recite a poem from the Dragon Country:
"To the east of the great river, the waves have washed away,
all the heroes of a thousand ages.
West of the old fortress, people say,
is Red Cliff of the Three Kingdoms’ Zhou Yu.
Jagged rocks pierce the clouds, startling waves crash upon the shore,
rolling up a thousand piles of snow.
The river and mountains are like a painting,
at one time home to how many heroes."
No one has ever unified the world before, but who’s to say it’s impossible now? If it is possible, then why can’t that person be me?
Unbridled ambition shone in the Monarch of Law’s eyes. As a ruler, which monarch in history, from any nation, had not harbored the desire to rule the world?
The lead warship was only five meters from the port.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
At the Monarch of Law’s command, confetti cannons roared, and airplanes soared through the sky, scattering flowers. This was all personally ordered by the Monarch to show Giles how much he valued him. He hoped Giles would feel, "The sovereign treats me as a national treasure, so I shall repay him with the loyalty of one."
But just as the warship reached the port...
"AHH!"
Suddenly, the soldiers and the bats on board let out bloodcurdling screams as they all exploded. Instantly, blood splattered everywhere. The once-clean warship was now drenched in gore. The explosions were so violent that blood even splashed onto the people on the docks.
The civilians and officials at the port were scared witless.
"What’s happening?"
"I have no idea!"
Chaos erupted at the port. Before their very eyes, the blood on the warship pooled into a river that dyed the seawater red in front of the port of the Iron Tower Country of Law.
The Monarch of Law and the others stared, wide-eyed and speechless. Right in front of them, everyone on the warship had died for no apparent reason.
This incident would surely be recorded in the annals of history.
"An unprecedented humiliation... This is an unprecedented humiliation!" the Monarch of Law roared in fury. "Investigate! Find out what in the world happened!"
Soon after, the investigation in the Iron Tower Country of Law revealed that Wu Tian was behind it all. They discovered this by relying on their ultra-modern technology. Super-satellites had picked up the last words of Giles and the bats on the solitary island. After analyzing the data with their advanced tech, they knew it was Wu Tian’s doing.
Suddenly, Wu Tian’s name, like a comet, once again sent shockwaves across the globe.
Wu Tian had set foot in Fusang, and the nation was annihilated. Now, his power had reached the Country of Law, and without anyone even seeing his shadow, thirty thousand of its troops were dead. Even Giles, the great marshal they had hoped to recruit, was gone.
When this news broke, citizens of all nations were stunned, their hearts trembling with fear. They all prayed that Wu Tian would not come to their country.
The Monarch of Law felt disgraced. Although he too feared Wu Tian, his pride forced him to demand an apology. If Wu Tian refused, he would wage war on the Dragon Country. The other nations were thrilled, hoping to profit while the Dragon Country and the Iron Tower Country of Law fought.
Hezong Country, however, was furious. It would not allow a third world war to begin over this. Hezong Country dispatched envoys to the Dragon Country to persuade Wu Tian to issue a public apology and bury the hatchet.
Why did Hezong Country have such confidence now? Because since the resurgence of Spiritual Energy, its power had grown substantially. If they demanded an apology from Wu Tian, then Wu Tian had to apologize. A simple apology from Wu Tian could prevent a third world war. From Hezong Country’s perspective, why wouldn’t Wu Tian be willing to do it?
