Chapter 3836 The Nameless Bat (Part Six)

“Long time no see, Agent Romanov.” Schiller appeared expressionless, only slightly lowering his eyebrows as he greeted her, showing his friendliness. In that instant, Natasha knew her trip had been worthwhile.

"Is your administrative leave over?" The two of them walked side by side down the corridor like old friends, chatting familiarly about topics that every agent is familiar with.

“It just ended yesterday,” Schiller said. “The office still looks hopeless. What do you think of the new job?”

“A complete mess,” Natasha said, slowing her pace and shaking her head.

They walked over to the coffee machine. Seeing Schiller holding a paper cup in one hand and pressing a button with the other without even looking up, Natasha knew this guy was a real agent.

“The president never considers the lives of his men when he gives orders,” Natasha feigned a complaint. “We’re going to have to fight these sleepless monsters to the death. They really should give me a beauty vacation.”

“That will have to wait until after everything is over.” Schiller’s voice was somewhat low amidst the noise of the coffee machine boiling. “Besides the order to arrest him, what other explanation did you receive?”

"Don't try to test me. We're at the same rank. I also have internal law enforcement authority. Whoever I arrest is mine; don't try to take what's mine." Natasha raised an eyebrow rather unfriendly.

"Even participating in the interrogation is not allowed?"

"You can have Superman."

"Forget it."

Schiller, holding his coffee cup, was about to leave when Natasha called after him, "Seriously, there's a tough guy you can show off your skills with. The Arkham Knight, our dear President's adopted son, a grumpy little fellow. I'm not sure what to do with him."

Schiller glanced back at her as he walked. Taking advantage of his sidestep, Natasha darted in front of him, deliberately pausing, and bumped into Schiller's arm. Hot coffee spilled all over him.

Although he could tell Natasha was doing it on purpose, Schiller didn't say anything, just frowned and tossed the paper cup into the nearby trash can. Natasha's gaze followed it, then fell on Schiller's hand.

"You don't have fingerprints?"

"What does it have to do with you?"

"Tsk tsk." Natasha looked Schiller up and down as if he were a rare animal, then stood in front of him, arms crossed, blocking his way, and said, "You can have those Bat Family members, I'll handle the Justice League. No matter how much the president offers you, you'll have to get through this week."

Schiller didn't seem to be in a hurry to leave. He leaned against the wall, arms crossed, and looked at Natasha, saying, "What price did he offer you?"

"you."

"I?"

“It’s you. I only came here to work for him illegally so I could drag you into this. Schiller, I’m really curious, how did you actually end up being an FBI agent?” Natasha was absolutely amazed.

"What does this have to do with you?" Schiller frowned as he looked at her.

"Can't I just satisfy my curiosity?" Natasha looked at him innocently. "Anyone would be curious about your legendary career, right?"

"I have no obligation to explain to you. Move aside."

Schiller shoved Natasha aside and left. Natasha watched his retreating figure, biting her lip hard on one side of her teeth, and pressed her earpiece, saying, "Put those two good-for-nothings who almost got kicked out in interrogation room number 3, and turn off the water dispenser next to them."

Schiller walked down the long corridor to interrogation room 03, flashed his badge at the two men at the door, and said, "Pour me a glass of warm water."

He pushed open the door and went inside. Behind the railing sat a burly young man, his elbows propped on the table, chin resting on his hands, staring idly at his fingers.

Schiller cleared his throat.

The Arkham Knight looked up, momentarily blinded by the overhead light, and couldn't make out the other person's face. He simply shifted his shoulders, leaned back, and kicked the table, creating a series of noises.

The interrogation room door opened again. A subordinate handed Schiller a paper cup. Schiller paused as his fingers touched the cup, then looked up at the subordinate and said, "Why is it cold?"

"Uh, the water dispenser next door is broken. I went downstairs to get some."

Schiller pressed a button on his headset and said, "Natasha, don't try anything funny. Your internal enforcement authority is a special privilege, while mine is my duty. If you don't want to lose an assistant every day, then..."

"That's it?"

"Just turn on the water dispenser."

Schiller didn't have time to waste and sat down behind the railing. As soon as his face was out of the glare of the light, the Arkham Knight, who was staring at them, let out a howl and nearly jumped onto the roof.

"You...you...you...you...you!"

"What's wrong with him?" Schiller turned to look at the agent sitting next to him.

"I don't know," the agent next to him said, looking somewhat bewildered.

"You didn't use excessive force, did you?"

"God, he's the president's adopted son, and I've never even touched him."

When Schiller turned back to look at the Arkham Knight, he found him struggling frantically. Not only was the table overturned, but the handcuffs and the interrogation chair they were attached to were also torn and deformed.

“Taser.” Schiller reached for the man beside him. After taking the gun, he aimed and fired, hitting the Arkham Knight in the waist. He twitched and collapsed to the ground.

“Open it.” Schiller glanced at the door on the railing.

The agent beside him hesitated for a moment, but still opened the door for him. Schiller lowered his head and went inside, intending to see what was wrong with the Arkham Knight, but as soon as he reached his side, the Arkham Knight scrambled to his feet and hid behind him.

Schiller took two steps back and said, "Don't get agitated."

"Get away from me!" the Arkham Knight roared at him. "You damned, violent law enforcement bastard!"

"Where did I use excessive force?"

"Your appearance is a form of psychological abuse against me! What's your relationship with Rodriguez?!"

"What a coincidence, I also have the last name Rodriguez."

The Arkham Knight swallowed hard, shrank his neck, and said, "Let's talk this out. You can leave now."

Schiller gave him a deep look, then turned and walked over the railing. The Arkham Knight stood there, catching his breath, before finally glaring at him. He muttered something under his breath, but Schiller couldn't hear it; judging from his expression, it wasn't anything pleasant.

“Can we start asking questions now?” Schiller said.

“Ask Batman instead of me,” said the Arkham Knight. “You know perfectly well that all this talk about spies is baseless, so why are you wasting your time here with me? Go drink your coffee!”

"It seems you don't like me, Rodriguez, very much. Shall I send someone else to talk to you?"

“No need!” the Knight of Arkham said, raising his voice. “I’ve already said it, I know nothing!”

"Don't rush." Schiller took the document from the side, flipped through it from front to back, and began to ask questions one by one.

Natasha sat in her office, watching the monitor in Wonder Woman's interrogation room with several members of the analysis team. But she was clearly distracted; she didn't hear the questions her colleagues asked her.

"Boss?...Boss?!"

Natasha suddenly snapped out of her reverie. She rubbed her forehead and said, "Tell them to call it a day. We can't outlast these superheroes. Change the schedule tomorrow, or we might actually die from overwork."

"Boss, something's up." Another subordinate walked in with documents and said, "The interrogation and arrest records don't match. They say someone's missing."

"Someone is missing?"

"Yes. Several officers who came in mentioned a new member named Moon Knight, but we didn't bring him back. He's not on the body cameras, nor in the Wayne Tower's surveillance footage. However, we did find a few strange videos of someone talking to thin air. We suspect this is some kind of special ability of his. Would you like to take a look?"

Upon hearing the name Moon Knight, Natasha lost interest and said, "Ignore him, just report the number of cases."

In interrogation room number 01, the agents began packing up their files and gradually left the room. Wonder Woman slumped into a chair, somewhat dejected. Suddenly, she felt the room light up, and a silvery-white light appeared before her eyes.

“Moon Knight? That makes sense, you're moonlight, they can't catch you.” Wonder Woman's eyes suddenly lit up. “Please, check on the Amazons for me. And Paradise Island, Batman didn't do anything to them, did he?”

Schiller shook his head at her and said, "The President has elevated the diplomatic level of Amazon; the documents have just been released."

Wonder Woman clenched her fists, and couldn't help but say, "He wants me to stay here and not cause him trouble. What exactly does he want?"

“Perhaps he’s protecting you,” Schiller said.

“When the Justice League was formed, we agreed to face difficulties together.” Wonder Woman’s eyes were still bright. “This proves that he is very clear-headed now.” She said, “No one in the Justice League needs his self-righteous protection. He shouldn’t have become president. Power has only fueled his ambition and desire for control, which will inevitably lead to disaster.”

“What I mean is, he’s controlling you, making sure you don’t go against him. He needs to protect you from the danger he himself brings.”

“I don’t understand. What danger could he possibly pose?!” Wonder Woman clenched her fists tightly. “What can’t we be told?! He’s incredibly arrogant! Superman shouldn’t tolerate him!”

“Mr. Kent’s political instincts are far more accurate than yours, madam. He also knows Batman better than you do,” Schiller said. “If that weren’t the case, you wouldn’t be here right now.”

"You mean it's a good thing we're stuck here? That's ridiculous!" Wonder Woman retorted.

“You’ll soon find out if it’s absurd,” Schiller said, gently shaking his staff. “You are so righteous, madam. You wouldn’t want to hurt the ordinary people here in a moment of passion. To respect your kindness, I have to take some precautions.”

As she finished speaking, the moonlight inside the house became even brighter. Wonder Woman saw that the walls of the house had turned silver-white, and two silver-white chains had appeared on the door.

"What do you mean by this?! Are you determined to become a lackey of those in power?!" Wonder Woman slammed her hand on the table in fury.

“I don’t want to say anything like ‘this is for your own good,’ but you can trust Batman a little more.” With that, Schiller disappeared into the moonlight.

Seeing that the situation was beyond repair, Wonder Woman could only slowly sit back down. In a secluded spot, a slightly distraught expression appeared on her face. She propped her forehead with her hand, combed her black hair back, and muttered to herself, "Why is this happening?"

With a click, the door opened. The red-haired female agent, completely unaffected by the silver chains, swaggered in.

“I know this isn’t interrogation time,” she began, “so this is just a private conversation. These are just my personal opinions, and you don’t have to take them to heart.”

“I know you’re worried about the Amazons and your people, and you definitely won’t stay here for long. But since Batman managed to bring you in, he won’t let you escape. I suggest you don’t waste your time. If you don’t manage to escape, I’ll consider it as if you didn’t try.”

Wonder Woman detected a different meaning in her last words. Natasha looked at her and said, "Batman will only hear the conclusion that 'she chose to trust you'."

"I……"

“I know you like him. Since you’ve already lost politically, try to win him back emotionally. As long as you’re still here, he owes you one. Seize this opportunity, madam.”

I was so scared by twin ponytails while playing Grounded 2 that I took off!
