Chapter 569 308: Music, Let's Go!
In the study room of Jiang University, on a typical day, you had to wait until ten at night for the exam-prepping students to finally give up and leave one after another.
After a hard day of studying, naturally, they'd head back to the dorms to rest, so they could be refreshed and throw themselves back into the tedious studying the next day.
But today, things were a little different.
The study room, usually packed every day, was only half full tonight. Looking up, you could see the empty spaces. Only stacks of review materials were left, piled high and lonely, with empty chairs behind them.
Strangely, students usually sat quietly upon finding a spot, focused on their own revision—either reading or practicing questions, rarely whispering to each other.
Yet tonight, the students seemed just as if they had taken a dose of excitement, fidgeting restlessly, frequently getting up to whisper to one another.
And it wasn't even eight yet when students started packing their things in a hurry, rushing for the doors.
Outside, the streets were filled with students, their faces beaming with bright smiles, chatting away:
"Wow, I heard all the food at this beer and BBQ festival was made by Senior Brother Jiang himself. Finally, we can feast!"
"Feast? You're lucky to get a taste! You see how many people are going for this event? Even if Senior Brother Jiang had three heads and six arms, he couldn't cook food for everyone!"
"Hehe, I'm just happy to get a taste. We're lucky to eat such delicious food because we go to Jiang University. Others can only drool with envy!"
"..."
Laughing and chatting all the way, the group made their way to the Seventh Dining Hall without stopping.
Among these students, there were naturally a few outsiders. They stayed silent, following along and thankfully thinking:
Good thing we had the foresight to make connections with the students here beforehand. Otherwise, we'd never get through the gates of Jiang University!
Look at those fools stopped at the gate, always procrastinators. Do they really think it's so easy to fool today's students?
They were also worried about too many people inside competing for the food!
The students crowded all the way to the entrance of the Seventh Dining Hall, spotting the large rainbow arch at the entrance from afar. The dazzling colored lights made the scene festive.
At this moment, the dining hall was brightly lit, with a student band invited to perform. They occasionally played lively music that resounded enthusiastically.
Seeing the scene, the students' eyes shone brightly. This event at the Seventh Dining Hall was far more lively than the last one.
Now the question was, would there be enough delicious food?
Even though it wasn't 8:30 yet, all preparations in the dining hall were already in place. Someone was busy lighting the charcoal on the grills set up at the windows.
On the other side, there were several large stainless steel bowls on the counter, each covered by a similarly large bowl. No one knew what was inside, but the enticing fragrance wafted in waves.
Near the food service window, stacks of chilled beer awaited, seemingly taken out of the fridge recently with beads of water glistening on the bottles, enticing anyone to gulp them down.
As time went by, more people arrived at the Seventh Dining Hall for the beer and BBQ event. Even the space outside the hall was filled with a bustling crowd.
Fortunately, Jiang Yu and the others had anticipated this. They had placed several tables outside the entrance, where students could only find beer, snails, and crayfish. Grilled items cooked on-site could only be enjoyed inside the dining hall.
Some students came just to soak in the lively atmosphere, unwind from long periods of tedious exam preparation, and ease their tense nerves, unsure how much longer they could endure otherwise.
Of course, if they could enjoy some delicious creations by Senior Brother Jiang, it would be all the more delightful.
With students crowding inside and outside the Seventh Dining Hall, familiar faces greeted each other with laughter and jokes, deliberately avoiding any talk of exam preparations.
Now was a rare chance to relax; no one would want to bring up anything that would spoil the mood.
In a ruckus, it soon turned 8:30. Before anyone realized, Jiang Yu and Lu Shuwu, along with other cafeteria staff, emerged from the kitchen with trays of ingredients and condiments.
At the main entrance, a few part-timers brought out covered stainless steel pots and crates of chilled beers to set up on the tables outside.
The students chatting and laughing suddenly lost interest, rushing over, each clamoring loudly:
"Senior Brother Jiang, there isn't enough beer here. Even one bottle each isn't enough. You need to prepare more!"
"Yeah, if the beer is free at the outside festivals, is it free here too, Senior Brother?"
"I'm not greedy for beer. Just give me more lamb skewers, and I'll be satisfied!"
"..."
"There's definitely more beer. The rest is still chilling, don't worry. It'll be enough for everyone, and yes, it's free. But don't waste it! If anyone wastes it, they'll be banned from future events."
The students, teasing and joking, seemed in high spirits, while Jiang Yu, busy sorting condiments, was all smiles as he said,
"This is the first summer cooling event at the Seventh Dining Hall. Everyone works hard studying for exams. Let this be a stress relief, loosen up, and hopefully, tomorrow you'll wake up refreshed and ready to study again.
So, though the beer is free, please don't overdo it. If it affects your exam prep, I'd feel guilty."
His words immediately elicited cheers from the students; Senior Brother Jiang truly had the juniors' well-being in mind!
After a pause, Jiang Yu cleared his throat and solemnly declared:
"Now I announce, the Seventh Dining Hall's first Beer and BBQ Festival has officially begun, music, let's go!"
