Chapter 521: Becoming a System
Chapter 521: Becoming a System
Dark threads grew out of Liora’s hand and wrapped around the phantom of the elderly Devil.
As the C-Rank talent gene Memory Read was activated, his memories were decomposed and slowly poured into her mind.
The elderly Devil had lived for a very long time.
Although the agreement stated that Liora would only access the memories of this world, they still contained information spanning thousands of years, just as he had previously claimed.
It took her several seconds to process the torrent of knowledge.
When she opened her eyes again, a flicker flashed within her pupils. A dawn of realization struck her.
"No wonder this guy was so desperate to leave this world. He wasn’t lying when he said that was all he wanted."
"He has really been targeted by this world, forced to jump from host to host in order to seek a chance for survival."
As for why he was unable to recover his strength on his own?
The suppression of this world was simply too severe.
Moreover, creatures from outside this world could not awaken their talent genes and thus could not practice the Awakener power system.
Therefore, acclimating to this world was a difficult and extremely long process.
At the very least, it had taken this Devil thousands of years just to regain his Lesser Devil-level power.
Of course, though he was weak, such a long experience provided Liora with ample information.
Some of the secrets of the Blood Forest Realm were revealed to her for the very first time.
These would be extremely conducive to ensuring her survival for the next few months.
After Liora finished digesting the elderly Devil’s memories, she organized her thoughts before shifting her focus to his body. Or more specifically, to his spiritual vessel.
His eyes now lacked vitality, while his True Spirit had fallen into a deep slumber.
It seemed that even if someone were to attack him at the moment, he wouldn’t wake up and would be powerless to resist.
This was the second part of the deal reached between the two.
Before Liora left this world and released him, the elderly Devil’s body and, more importantly, his soul, would belong to her.
"This man’s current strength is nothing and can hardly be of use."
"However, his identity as a Devil is very valuable for me."
"In the past, I couldn’t even use basic abilities such as Devil Contract, making things overly complicated. Now, this issue can be partially alleviated."
With that thought, Liora stretched her finger.
The skin of her fingertip cracked, and a small drop of blood oozed out.
As it writhed, it elongated and contracted repeatedly, soon gaining a humanoid appearance.
Its outline was exactly the same as Liora’s.
However, she didn’t spend any time admiring it.
Controlling the blood, she let it overlap with the elderly Devil’s soul, fusing the two together.
Rank 6 Blood Clone.
Similar to the characteristics of Greater Devils, who could split their bodies into several parts by consuming Indestructible Matter, Blood Clone allowed Liora to create duplicates of her body.
Though they could not display her full power, it was more than enough for the time being.
Under Liora’s eyes, the Blood Clone began to merge with the elderly Devil’s body.
Under normal circumstances, the latter should have fought against the former’s advance, even if instinctively.
But with their agreement set in stone, the elderly Devil could not and did not resist.
The Blood Clone gradually seeped into its silhouette, dyeing its surface red.
Crimson threads grew out and encased the two, weaving a cocoon as though they were a butterfly.
The cocoon pulsed eerily.
The Blood Clone and the silhouette started to undergo a fundamental transformation, absorbing the surrounding Cosmic Energy to achieve that goal.
Liora nodded in satisfaction.
She observed the cocoon and came to the conclusion that it would take quite some time to complete.
At least, it was not a matter of hours or even days.
Despite this, she did not feel disappointed.
She knew this Blood Clone might play an important role in her future journey in this world.
The time investment was insignificant compared to the potential gains.
Waving her hand, Liora manipulated the cocoon to shrink down.
Within moments, it had turned into a tiny crimson dot, though its devouring power remained undiminished.
Liora placed her finger on her lips and pondered briefly.
Then, she looked at Aaron and tossed the crimson dot into his body.
If Aaron were conscious at the moment, he would have realized that his "Mission System", which had disappeared just moments ago, was now back in place.
Although the font had changed and the powers now carried a strange power, it was not something an ordinary Rank 2 Awakener could notice, much less figure out.
Liora was pleased by this development.
"It’s best to let this Blood Clone act as though nothing has happened."
"Perhaps in the eyes of the Will of this world, it can retain the identity of the elderly Devil."
With that thought, Liora knew that her adventure was over for now.
There was nothing else in this small Scorpius Tribe that could interest her.
At most, everything was a matter of the future.
Thinking of this, she didn’t linger.
Her body transformed into a black stream of light and fell into the room’s corner, blending into the shadows.
Then, she vanished completely.
Only moments after her departure, Aaron suddenly regained his consciousness.
He didn’t notice anything wrong and had forgotten the feeling of sleepiness he had sensed before falling unconscious. He didn’t even notice the change in time.
As he made his way out of the room, he looked at the two missions and rubbed his hands in excitement.
He knew that getting closer to Anya was only the first checkpoint of his wonderful life.
Before long, he would become a true God!
--
Liora had never expected to meet a Devil in this secret realm and naturally couldn’t have planned her future plans around it.
Yet, such an experience provided her with a lot of help.
The Mission System was only one of her gains.
Though crucial, it did not help her much at the moment.
The biggest gain was actually the information about the Blood Forest Realm itself.
Its history, certain characteristics, and more importantly, its opportunities were no longer a secret to her.
"No wonder that guy used the Mission System to manipulate the native to come to the Hydra Tribe.", Liora sighed.
"Does the Dragon Blood Pool really hide such a secret?", she couldn’t help but whisper while making her way through the city.
Subconsciously, she lifted her head and looked toward the very center of the human settlement.
Her gaze seemed able to penetrate through the various landscapes, settling on a certain hidden room deep underground.
