Chapter 1960 - 1933: You’re Too Conservative
Meanwhile, at the Eight Great Passes Villa.
Jiang Liufeng, as usual, sat in the pavilion by the artificial lake, playing chess with Cangwu.
Beside them was a set of exquisite tea utensils, giving off an impression of being quite valuable at first glance.
Today’s chess game was different from the usual peaceful sessions, exuding a chilling intent to kill, as if one was dancing on a knife edge, a single misstep could lead to destruction.
Jiang Liufeng’s chess style was exceptionally sharp today, with every move hinting at danger and ready to launch a fierce attack at any given opportunity.
Cangwu was already cornered by Jiang Liufeng, left with no room to counter.
"Snap!"
Seeing Jiang Liufeng place another piece, cutting off all of his retreats, the entire game turned the white pieces into a sharp sword, piercing through all defenses, heading straight for the kill.
Watching the changes on the board, Cangwu’s face displayed a helpless smile as he placed his piece down: "Master, I lost."
Upon hearing Cangwu’s concession, Jiang Liufeng smiled and then tossed his piece into the chess box beside him, casually picked up a teapot and poured himself a cup of tea, before pouring another for Cangwu.
Taking a sip, Jiang Liufeng calmly queried, "Cangwu, do you know why you lost?"
Cangwu, momentarily stunned by Jiang Liufeng’s words, responded: "Please guide me, Master."
"You’re too conservative."
Jiang Liufeng glanced at Cangwu and slowly declared, "Every time you attack, you never give it your all, always holding back thirty percent. In such cases, if the opponent thinks like you, your strategy might succeed, but if the opponent strikes with full force, you’ll have no way to defend and will be drawn into their rhythm, unable to escape, waiting for defeat."
"Cangwu, this is your biggest weakness and it’s fatal. Once you identify an enemy, show no mercy and attack decisively. Otherwise, if you face a true expert, you won’t survive."
"I understand, Master." Cangwu, hearing Jiang Liufeng’s analysis, nodded firmly, a sense of sternness in his heart.
"Glad you understand. You are my only disciple, and I don’t want anything to happen to you."
Saying this, Jiang Liufeng sipped his tea and asked, "By the way, has Miss Lin left Qin Island?"
"Yes!"
Cangwu nodded: "Half an hour ago, the Young Master and Young Madam drove Miss Lin from Qin Island."
"Do you know why Miss Lin left Qin Island in such haste?" Jiang Liufeng’s eyes flickered as he asked again.
"Yes."
Cangwu nodded: "According to reports from Beijing, it seems that certain second-rate families under the Qingtian Alliance have become restless and joined forces against Miss Lin’s faction, causing her urgent departure to Beijing."
Hearing Cangwu’s information, Jiang Liufeng furrowed his brows slightly and said solemnly, "Still haven’t found out who’s really behind the Qingtian Alliance?"
"We can’t find out."
Cangwu shook his head: "The person behind the Qingtian Alliance is extremely mysterious, never meeting outsiders. I estimate that in the alliance, those who know the identity of the mastermind are fewer than five. We dare not act rashly to avoid alerting them, hence cannot ascertain the true identity."
"Keep investigating this matter, and also send two squads of Divine Gun Guards to Beijing to assist Miss Lin. Since the other party dares to strike at this time, they must have plans; be cautious."
"Yes, Master. I’ve already arranged for this. The Divine Gun Guards set off when Miss Lin headed to Beijing."
"Cangwu, you’re thoughtful."
Jiang Liufeng exhaled slowly and said, "Playing chess is boring, Tianxing is probably returning soon, I’ll go see him."
In another direction, Lu Tianxing drove back to the Eight Great Passes Villa.
He glanced around the courtyard but didn’t see Jiang Liufeng, prompting him to look at Bai Zhiqing with some puzzlement: "Wife, isn’t Grandfather supposed to be watering the flowers at this time? Why can’t I find him?"
"Maybe he’s by the lake!"
Bai Zhiqing replied uncertainly: "Lately, Grandfather has been playing chess or drinking tea with Cangwu by the lake, maybe he’s there."
"Alright, I’ll go check."
Lu Tianxing nodded, ready to head to the backyard, but as soon as he turned, he saw Jiang Liufeng coming out of the backyard, hands behind his back, looking relaxed. When Jiang Liufeng saw Lu Tianxing, a fleeting smile crossed his face, but then it quickly turned solemn again.
"Who told you to come out of the room? Do you not know you’re still recovering and need rest?"
Jiang Liufeng scolded sternly, "You were lucky this time, but if it happens again, do you think you’ll make it back alive? If you keep pushing yourself, believe me, I’ll slap you to death."
Though his tone was harsh, the underlying concern and affection remained undiminished.
Lu Tianxing, hearing Jiang Liufeng’s words, was completely unfazed. Having become familiar with Jiang Liufeng, he viewed him as his own grandfather, and didn’t mind these remarks.
Lu Tianxing chuckled and said, "Grandfather, I’m already fine, of course I need to move around. Don’t you know that health comes from activity, not lying in bed?"
"Besides, Grandfather, look at Zhiqing, Qianru, and Rose; they were once so full of life, but taking care of me has worn them out, gave them dark circles. How can I bear to lie in bed and burden them, is that not right, Grandfather?"
Lu Tianxing rambled on: "Also, as they say, medicine is three parts poison, right, Grandfather? You wouldn’t want me taking those every day, would you?"
Listening to Lu Tianxing’s ridiculous excuses, Jiang Liufeng’s stern expression softened, and a smile formed on his face. What he liked most about Lu Tianxing was how he treated him like family, not an outsider.
"You sure have a silver tongue."
Jiang Liufeng gave Lu Tianxing a reproachful look, then turned to Bai Zhiqing, Lin Qianru, and Rose, and asked, "You just got back, have you had lunch? If not, I’ll tell the kitchen to make some for you."
